Places To Go In Cairo

Almost everywhere in Cairo is worth visiting. However, it is recommended that you finish up in a place before moving on to the next and only go over a few places daily so that you don’t get overwhelmed.

You may have to spend almost half of the day exploring the Grand Egyptian Museum, perhaps due to its cluttered nature. If you don’t have that amount of time to spare at a stretch, a two or three shorter visits will suffice. The Islamic Cairo area of the city house Khan al-Khalili and other ancient monuments, and these awe-inspiring locations will take you a full day or numerous shorter visits at different times of the day to properly explore.

It is very okay to wander around this area for multiple hours. Although you may miss out on ‘proper’ sightseeing, you will be compensated by the experience of the most real sense of the city as offered by the back lanes.

It will only take you four or five hours to explore The Pyramids of Giza, but if you want to complete the 10km trip to the city’s edge and back, you may have to spare a full day.

Mornings are the ideal times to visit the Coptic Cairo, and access is even easier, courtesy of the Metro.  You can also either go to and from your hotel or enjoy your evenings there, but you will end up taking the Downtown’s atmosphere.
