Ibn Tulun Citadel
About Ibn Tulun Mosque
Ibn Tulun Citadel is a significant tourist attraction, this citadel complex which was built towards the end of the Ottoman era is located to the south of Darb al-Ahmar. Below the citadel is another historically remarkable area, located on Midan Salah ad-Din along the Sharia al-Salbiyya. This area plays host to two of the largest mosques in Cairo as well as some less magnificent land marks.
Despite the importance of the site, there is not much renovation or reconstruction being carried compared to other equally historic areas to the north.
