Whichever end you choose to approach the Blue Hole from, it remains an unmatched beauty, one of its kind all over the world. The Blue Hole in Dahab is renowned for being among the 5 most popular blue holes all over the world.
Getting to the Blue Hole is the least of your problem as you can choose to take a leisurely stroll from your hotel for between 30 and 40 minutes. You may however decide to take the easier way out and either board a taxi or take bus trip out to the Blue hole.
Snorkeling and diving in the Blue Hole comes with some level of risk. It has been known to be the spot where a couple of diving accidents have occurred in the past. The reason is not far-fetched, the physical dimensions of Dahab’s blue hole are quite imposing with a shallow opening at 6m known as Saddle, a depth of 94m and a tunnel of length 26m that opens out to the sea at 56m.
Despite all of these, the Blue Hole is a safe diving spot provided all safety rules and regulations are strictly adhered to. It is also important to wear the necessary gear and be in good physical condition.
Folklore has it that the Blue Hole is haunted by a curse placed on it by the ghost of a lady who committed suicide by jumping into the Blue Hole in order to escape being married by force.
