The Palm Groves

The Palm Groves

Behind the quaint village, an expanse of lush palm groves unfolds, presenting a particularly stunning vista as the sun begins its descent. In this tranquil hour, just before sunset, the groves bathe in a golden hue, casting long shadows and creating a scene of serene beauty. The air, filled with the rustling of leaves and the distant chirping of birds, adds to the enchantment of the moment.

A Mosaic of Walled Gardens

The groves are meticulously divided into walled gardens, a patchwork of greenery that harmoniously blends various types of vegetation. Here, olive trees and an assortment of fruit trees intermingle with tall date palms, whose branches not only yield fruit but also serve a practical purpose as natural fencing for the land. This careful cultivation results in a picturesque landscape that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

A Walk Through Nature's Corridors

Visitors can meander along the paths that weave through the groves, an experience akin to walking through nature’s own corridors. While these pathways are open for leisurely strolls, it is important to respect the privacy of the gardens. Entry into these personal havens without an invitation is considered intrusive, particularly for single women, as local customs deem such actions as provocative.

Respecting Local Traditions and Customs

On the edge of the village, one might notice the men’s bathhouse, a simple yet lively spot where youths enjoy the refreshing splash of warm water from a concrete tank, fed by a gushing pipe. As a visitor, it is advisable to practice discretion and avert one’s gaze from this local communal space. Foreigners are encouraged to explore other bathing springs, such as Bir Setta, which are more suited for tourist use.
