Mosque Of Al Hakim Be Amr Allah
Just in front of the main church of the monastery of Saint Catherine, there is a small mosque which was constructed in the reign of the Fatimid Caliph Al -Hakim Be Amr Allah in the year 1106. It was built mainly using mud bricks and it reflects the unity of the Egyptian Moslems and Copts throughout history.Other than the monastery, the area of Saint Catherine has some of the highest and most interesting mountains in Sinai and in Egypt in general.
The common tour to Saint Catherine would usually including climbing one of the high peaks in the area, spend the night at the top of the mountain to watch the sunrise in the marvelous atmosphere and location, and then come down to visit and explore the different sections of the monastery.
