Itinerary
• We will begin our tour by exploring the startling Unfinished Obelisk, which dates back to the era of the New Kingdom when the ancient Egyptians tried to cut it, but discovered a defect and left it in the quarry until today. It weighs more than 19 million kilograms and the visit includes a marvelous explanation of the importance of obelisks in ancient Egypt and the process of construction.
• The second visit of the day will be to the High Dam, constructed in 1961 by the former Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser. The high dam was considered to be a piece of ingenuity in the field of architectural works when it was first constructed, and today provides Egypt with electricity and water needed for agriculture.
• Our third visit of the day will be to the charming Philae Temple, the center of the cult of Isis. The Philae Temple was divided into pieces after the construction of the High Dam and relocated to Agilika Island in a process that took more than seven years.
• By the end of the tour, guests will be transported back to their hotel in Aswan
