Day 01: The Catacombs of Kom El Shuqafa, Pompey’s Pillar, Al Morsey Abu Al-Abbas & Qaitbey Fort
We will begin our 3 hours drive to Alexandria early in the morning and we will have one stop on the way to use toilets and may have some refreshments. Upon arrival to Alexandria, we start the city tour by visiting the Catacombs of Kom El Shuqafa, the largest and most impressive Greco-Roman necropolis in Egypt, which blends the ancient Egyptian styles and motifs with Greco-Roman outlines and shapes.
Our second visit will be to Pompey’s Pillar, built in the 2nd century, it is the only remaining item of Serapuem Temple, which was once very huge and today with the two sphinxes, these are the only remaining parts of it. Later on, we will take to the most famous mosque in the city Al Morsey Abu Al-Abbas where you will get to know about Islam and Islamic Architecture.
Stop for lunch at the Greek Club where you will relish a deluxe sea food menu and enjoy a wonderful view of both the sea & the city. Then we will take you to a wonderful view of Qaitbey Fort before guests will be transported to your hotel to spend the night. Dinner will be served at the hotel.
Day 02: Montazah Palace Garden, National Museum, Roman Amphitheater & Bibliotheca Alexandrina
After breakfast, your guide will walk you across the street to wonder the most wonderful park in the country, Montazah Palace Garden.Later on, we go back to the hotel to collect your luggage and start your Alexandrian adventure. Our next stop of the day will be at the National Museum. Constructed at the end of the 19th century by Khedive Abbas II, the museum hosts the largest collection of findings and treasures found all over Alexandria throughout history.
The next stop will be at the Roman Amphitheater, the only one of its kind in Egypt, constructed in the 2nd century, it consists of thirteen marble rows to accommodate a large audience.
lunch will be served at a local restaurant before we head to our last visit which will be to the wonderful Library of Alexandria which was made after the old Bibliotheca which was one of the largest and most significant libraries of the ancient world.
By the end of the tour, guests will be transported back to their hotel in Cairo
