How To Go To Al Minya

There are a couple of options when it comes to How to travel to Al-Minya:

1) Bus 

The most famous bus stop; The Upper Egypt Bus, is located in Sharia Saad Zaghloul and has hourly services to Cairo from 6 am. The Journey will take up to 4 hours.

2) Train

The tourist office in the station may be able to help with information. Their number: 234 2044

Trains to Cairo from Al Menya

 (1st-/2nd-class E£100/80, three to four hours) have only 1st- and 2nd-class carriages and leave at least every 1½ hours starting  at 4.25am.

The last train is at 6.40pm and continues on to Alexandria. 

Trains that are heading south leave fairly frequently, with the fastest trains departing from Minya between 11 pm and 1 am.

Foreigners can board the two Wagons Lit trains that come from Cairo, but you are likely to need a reservation if you want a couchette. Leave that to us and we’ll arrange your reservation.

Seven 1st and 2nd class trains go all the way to Luxor and the journey takes six to eight hours. If you want to go to Aswan it will take you eight to 11 hours, stopping at Asyut, Sohag, and Qena.
