3-Day Siwa Journey From Alexandria Tour Plan

Departure at 07:00 AM from your hotel in Alexandria or Giza. We recommend requesting a breakfast box due to the early start. Our first leg takes us to El Alamein, a 130 km drive approximately taking 1.5 hours. We’ll stop briefly for a coffee break en route, arriving at El Alamein around 08:30 AM.

El Alamein’s Historical Significance
El Alamein, pivotal during the Second World War, was a critical point for control over the North African coast, opening pathways to Egypt and the trade routes extending to the Far East. Here, the Axis powers clashed with the Allies, desperate to protect their colonial lifelines. The town of Al Diffa was at the heart of this fierce conflict, beginning with the Italian invasion in 1940.

EL Alamein Museum
Located about a mile west of the British memorial, this small museum houses a rich collection of war memorabilia, including uniforms, weapons, flags, and photographs. It provides a profound insight into the battles fought on these grounds.

El Alamein War Cemetery
Designed by Sir Herbert Worthington and maintained by the British war graves commission, this cemetery is the final resting place for 7,367 soldiers from diverse nations, with a memorial cloister for 11,945 men whose remains were never recovered.

The German and Italian Memorials
A few kilometers west, you’ll find the German war memorial, an impressive structure housing 4,280 soldiers. Further along stands the majestic white marble Italian Memorial, designed by Paolo Caccia Dominoni, overlooking the sea.

Enjoying the Natural Beauty
Post these historical visits, a light lunch will be served as we travel. Later, witness a breathtaking sunset at Fatnas Island on Birket Siwa, a perfect spot for relaxation surrounded by stunning natural landscapes.

Dinner will be served at your hotel in Siwa.

After breakfast, our tour resumes at 07:00 AM. We begin with the Temple of the Oracle, where Alexander the Great once sought divine affirmation of his divine parentage. Next, we explore the hyper-saline waters of Siwa’s salty lakes, known for their buoyancy and therapeutic properties.

Cultural and Historical Sites
Visit Cleopatra’s Bath, the legendary swimming spot of the queen, and the Temple of Amun, offering a glimpse into the ancient religious practices of Siwa. Enjoy a traditional Siwan lunch at Abdo restaurant, followed by a thrilling desert adventure in the Great Sand Sea with a 4×4 Jeep.

Desert Night under the Stars
Conclude the day with a sunset Bedouin tea, followed by a BBQ dinner and an overnight stay at a desert camp. Alternatively, opt for a comfortable night in one of Siwa’s eco-lodges.

Start with breakfast at the camp before returning to Siwa to explore the Shali Fortress and the Mountain of the Dead, rich in history from various periods. Our journey continues to Marsa Matrouh on the Mediterranean, famed for its beautiful beaches, before concluding our tour in Alexandria around 8:00 PM.
