The Blue Mosque
Although it shares a name with another mosque in Istanbul, the blue mosque, built in 1347, is not as imposing or magnificent. The architecture is traditionally Mamluk all through with the exception of a wall adorned with blue tiles from the Ottoman era, which were added about 300 years after the mosque itself was built.
The citadel is visible from atop the mosque’s minaret. Remnants of the Saladin city walls can also be seen from this vantage point.
