Mosque of Al-Mu’ayyad Shaykh built on the location of a prison where the Mamluk Sultan, Al-Mu’ayyad Shaykh himself was once remanded, the eponymously named Mosque was built in 1421. It’s painted in striped red and white colors and features a splendidly designed entrance area, designed with stalactite vaulting. Also, the mosque’s door, an exquisite piece of brass artwork is thought to have been stolen from Sultan Hassan’s mosque.
